TrustedPals Health Plans

When selecting coverage for your pet, most pet insurance companies provide various plan options, including accident-only or comprehensive coverage that encompasses accidents and illnesses.

TrustedPals simplifies the decision-making process by exclusively offering a comprehensive coverage pet plan.

Additionally, you can choose to add a wellness plan at an extra cost. Payment options include monthly or annual premiums.

While paying the full year upfront doesn’t yield a discount, it helps avoid the $1 monthly transaction fee.

Medical Conditions Covered by TrustedPals

TrustedPals’ comprehensive accident and illness pet insurance cover various medical expenses:

  1. Physical Exams: TrustedPals stands out by covering physical exams, a feature not offered by all pet insurance providers. Moreover, there’s no requirement for your pet to undergo a pre-coverage vet examination.
  2. Accidents: After the waiting period, TrustedPals provides coverage for accidents, irrespective of your pet’s age. This includes incidents such as broken bones, cuts, bite wounds, poisoning, and teeth breakage during accidents.
  3. Illnesses: While pre-existing conditions are excluded, TrustedPals covers a range of illnesses and diseases, subject to policy benefit limits. Covered illnesses encompass thyroid issues, diabetes, kidney problems, cancer, asthma, and allergies.

Prescriptions

Under the TrustedPals comprehensive pet insurance plan, various prescription costs are covered, including:

  1. Behavioral training, therapy, or treatment
  2. Medications
  3. Nutritional supplements
  4. Pet food

These items can be sourced from any location, but a veterinary prescription is necessary to address an illness or injury.

Alternative and Holistic Treatments

In certain cases, alternative treatments may be more effective for your pet than traditional medications.

TrustedPals covers non-traditional therapies prescribed by a vet, such as acupuncture or hydrotherapy.

Breeding and Pregnancy

Although there is no coverage for breeding and pregnancy, the pet insurance plan will cover any illness directly resulting from your pet’s pregnancy.

Chronic and Hereditary Conditions

Treatable but incurable, chronic and hereditary conditions are covered as long as they are not considered pre-existing.

Your pet will receive lifetime care for the covered condition, subject to policy benefits.

Pet Death

TrustedPals offers additional benefits for pet death.

If your pet passes away while the insurance is active, the plan covers euthanasia costs and burial or cremation expenses up to $250.

For pets obtained from breeders or rescues, there’s a death benefit of $150, which can be reimbursed up to $1,000 with a receipt.

Pets euthanized due to illness, as well as dogs over 8 and cats over 10, are ineligible for this death benefit.

Wellness Plan

You have the option to include a wellness plan for an additional fee when obtaining a quote for a pet insurance plan.

The wellness plan covers:

  1. Annual wellness exam
  2. Preventative care, including:
    • Vaccines
    • Flea/tick/heartworm medications
    • Certain testing
    • Spaying or neutering
    • Dental care

There’s a single option for the wellness plan, reimbursing up to $750 per plan year for eligible vet costs.

These costs are not covered under the comprehensive pet insurance plan.

So if you desire preventative care coverage, opt for the wellness plan with an extra premium.

How to File a Claim with TrustedPals

Filing a claim with TrustedPals pet insurance is a straightforward process.

After you’ve paid for vet services, follow these steps:

  1. Log into your online Portal.
  2. Answer a few questions about your pet’s vet visit.
  3. Upload a copy of the vet bill.

If you prefer to call in your claim, you can contact TrustedPals pet insurance at (800) 358-3801 during office hours, which are 8 AM to 7 PM from Monday to Friday and 11 AM to 3 PM on Saturday.

TrustedPals will review the bill and process the payout based on your policy limits and maximums. The turnaround time is 10 business days or less, with most claims reimbursed in less time, as mentioned on the website.

Enrollment & Waiting Period

Coverage begins on the day you make your first payment for your TrustedPals pet insurance policy.

However, a waiting period applies before the selected coverage can be utilized, a common practice among pet insurance companies.

For TrustedPals, the waiting period is 14 days from the date coverage starts.

This applies to all covered accidents or illnesses, excluding cruciate ligaments and hip dysplasia.

The waiting period for these two conditions is 12 months.

On the anniversary of the insurance policy’s first renewal, coverage begins, provided your pet has not received any treatment or care for these specific issues during this time.
