MGIC Investment Corporation, also known as MGIC and listed on the New York Stock Exchange as MTG, is a company that helps people in the United States get private mortgage insurance.
They are based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
The company was started back in 1957 by a real estate attorney named Max H. Karl.
He saw that many of his clients were struggling to afford their new homes.
So he came up with the idea of modern private mortgage insurance.
To make it happen, he gathered $250,000 from investors, which included his friends and business partners, to launch MGIC.
It all began right there in Milwaukee.
The important people who lead the company are Pat Sinks (the big boss), Steve Mackey (the risk expert), Paula Maggio (the legal expert), Tim Mattke (the money expert), Jay Hughes (the sales expert), and Sal Miosi (the strategy and operations expert).

In 2019, the building underwent significant renovations, thanks to the work of Eppstein Uhen Architects and Hunzinger Construction.
